What Is Selective Sync
By default, the AXIS CloudSync desktop client syncs all your folders and Team Shares to your local drive. Selective Sync overrides this behavior, letting you choose which folders are downloaded to a specific device. Folders you deselect remain safely in the cloud and are still accessible via the web portal and mobile app β they just don't take up space on that computer's hard drive.
- Ideal for laptops with limited SSD storage.
- Different devices can have different Selective Sync configurations.
- Deselected folders are not deleted from the cloud β they are simply not downloaded to that device.
- You can change your Selective Sync settings at any time.
Configuring Selective Sync
Selective Sync can be configured during the initial registration of the desktop client, or at any time afterward through the system tray settings.
During Initial Registration
- 1During the Registration Wizard, you will reach the Choose Folders for Selective Sync screen.
- 2All your folders and Team Shares are listed with checkboxes.
- 3Uncheck any folders you do not want synced to this device.
- 4Click Next to continue. Only checked folders will be downloaded.
After Registration β Changing Your Settings
- 1Right-click the AXIS CloudSync Tool icon in the system tray (Windows: lower-right corner; Mac: upper-right menu bar).
- 2Select Settings.
- 3Click the Selective Sync tab.
- 4Check or uncheck folders as needed.
- 5Click Save.
Note
Cloud-Only Files
Files in folders you have deselected are still accessible through:
- The AXIS CloudSync web portal β access from any browser.
- The mobile app β access from your phone or tablet.
- Another device where the folder is selected for sync.
- A WebDAV mapped drive β mount AXIS CloudSync as a network drive for on-demand access without syncing. See the WebDAV guide.
