Using the Web Portal

The AXIS CloudSync web portal gives you full access to your files, folders, shares, backups, and activity log from any browser β€” no software installation required.

Portal Overview

After creating your account, log in at your organization's AXIS CloudSync URL to access the web portal. The portal is your central hub for managing all content in your account. The main navigation tabs give you access to:

  • Files β€” Browse, upload, download, and manage your personal files and folders.
  • Shares β€” Access team shares, items shared by you, and items shared with you.
  • Guests β€” Collaborate and share with people outside your organization.
  • Backups β€” Create and manage your backup sets.
  • File Report β€” View or export a complete list of your files.
  • Activity Log β€” Review a full audit trail of your activity within the system.

Uploading Files

You can upload files directly through the browser using the web portal's drag-and-drop interface or the Upload button.

  1. 1Click the Files tab in the top navigation.
  2. 2Navigate to the folder where you want to upload content.
  3. 3Click the Upload button in the toolbar, or drag and drop files directly onto the file list area.
  4. 4A progress indicator will appear while your files upload. Once complete, the files will appear in your folder.

Tip

For large batches of files, consider using the desktop sync client instead. It handles large uploads more efficiently and resumes automatically if your connection drops.

Managing Files & Folders

Right-click any file or folder (or use the action menu) to access management options:

  • Download β€” Download the file or folder as a ZIP archive.
  • Rename β€” Rename the item in place.
  • Move β€” Move the item to a different folder.
  • Copy β€” Duplicate the item to another location.
  • Delete β€” Move the item to the trash. Deleted items can be recovered for up to 30 days.
  • Share β€” Create a share link or send a secure share.
  • Version History β€” View and restore previous versions of a file.

Creating New Folders

  1. 1Navigate to the location where you want to create the folder.
  2. 2Click the New Folder button in the toolbar.
  3. 3Enter a name for the folder and press Enter or click Create.

Shares & Guests

The Shares tab consolidates all sharing activity in one place. You can see Team Shares your administrator has set up, links you've shared with others, and items others have shared with you.

The Guests tab lets you share content with people outside your organization. Guests receive a limited-access account that only shows the content shared with them β€” they cannot see any other files in your organization.

Note

If your administrator has restricted sharing to secure shares only, the standard share link option will not be available. See the Sharing Files and Folders guide for full details.

Backups Tab

The Backups tab lets you create and manage backup sets for your local folders. Once configured, AXIS CloudSync will automatically back up the selected folders on your schedule.

  1. 1Click the Backups tab.
  2. 2Click New Backup to create a backup set.
  3. 3Select the local folder you want to back up.
  4. 4Choose a backup schedule (continuous, hourly, daily, or weekly).
  5. 5Click Save. The backup will run on your next scheduled interval.

Activity Log

The Activity Log records every action taken in your account β€” uploads, downloads, shares, logins, and more. This log is essential for HIPAA compliance audits and security reviews.

  • Filter by date range, action type, or user.
  • Export the log as a CSV file for compliance reporting.
  • Administrators can view activity logs for all users in the organization from the Admin panel.

Excluded File Extensions

Certain file types are excluded from syncing by default to prevent system conflicts and improve performance. These include temporary files, system files, and certain application-specific formats. Your administrator can configure the exclusion list in the Admin settings.

Important

If a file you upload does not appear in the portal after a few minutes, check whether its extension is on the exclusion list. Contact your administrator to add exceptions if needed.
